ShockTillYouDrop.com learned over the weekend writer-director Tom Shankland is currently chiseling away at his sophomore horror movie endeavor called The Day. His first feature film, Waz, is in a holding pattern at The Weinstein Company awaiting a release date.

Filming has begun in the UK with Vertigo Films backing the project. Concerning itself with a family trip that goes awry and something to do with malicious children in the woods, Shankland penned “Day” based on a story by Paul Andrew Williams (The Cottage).

Rachel Shelley (”The L Word”) stars alongside fellow UK thesps Stephen Campbell Moore (The Bank Job), Eva Birthistle, Eva Sayer and Jeremy Sheffield (Creep). Waz’s Allan Niblo and James Richardson are producing.

Paramount Pictures has acquired One Big Happy, a comic pitch from “Party of Five” creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman to which Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are attached to star, reports Variety.

John Goldwyn and Lorne Michaels will produce.

The trade says the project is described as a comedy about a couple and a family reconnecting amid various obstacles. The material is a strong match for Martin and Keaton, who played a married couple in the Charles Shyer-directed “Father of the Bride” and its sequel.

Keaton was last seen in the comedies Mama’s Boy and Mad Money. Martin next stars in Pink Panther Deux.
